Stark – Prinzessinnen gewinnen Rückspiel gegen SSV HIB Liebenau
In den Meisterplayoff der ersten steierischen Landesliga, glückte die erwünschte Revanche gegen den Grazer Nachbarn. Nach der erst vor 7 Tagen kassierten deutlichen Heimniederlage gegen die Südgrazer, sollte das Rückspiel, an gleicher Stelle ausgetragen, einen gänzlich anderen Verlauf nehmen.
Von Beginn an präsentierten sich alle Spieler des VSC in guter Form. Die Annahme um Libera Larissa Lechner war stabil, die Abwehr- und Angriffsleistungen um das stark blockende Fräulein Hölzl ausnahmslos stark. So waren bei der zwischenzeitlichen Führung zur zweiten technischen Auszeit (16:12) nur die Eigenfehler (8) zu monieren. Die Sideouts wurden gehalten, VSC-typische Schwächephasen gab es nicht. Zwar wurde es zum Ende des ersten Satzes noch einmal eng, aber die Nerven hielten und mit 27:25 wurde der erste Satz in dieser Saison überhaupt gegen HIB gewonnen.
Als der „Cheffe“ Mitte des zweiten Satzes dazustieß, waren die ersten Wechsel schon vollzogen und die im Geiste pinke Truppe weiter auf auf Erfolgskurs. (Endergebnis: 25:22). Kurze Unsicherheiten in der Annahme zu Beginn des dritten Satzes wurden von Lechner mit einer Annahme, die einen hohen Anspruch auf den coolsten und besten Spielzüge der Saison hat, aus den Köpfen der Mannschaft gepritscht. Kollektiver Jubel ein weiterer Stimmungsanstieg und das Gefühl dieses Spiel nur noch nach hause bringen zu müssen, stellten sich ein und so ging auch der dritte Satz mit 25:23 und das Spiel an den VSC I.

Ein Spieltag, zwei Gesichter! Sieg und Niederlage für den VSC I
Der erste Spieltag der VSC Herren in der Meisterplayoff (bei der es um die Zitat einiger Teilnehmer „Goldene Ananas“ geht) wurde als Doppelheimrunde im USZ Rosenhain ausgetragen. Gegner waren der in der Hauptrunde Drittplatzierte SSV HIB Libenau 1 und der hinter dem VSC auf Platz 6 geendete GSV St. Radegrund.
Die Vorgaben für beide Spiele waren so unterschiedlich, wie sich die Spiele dann auch gestalten sollten. Gegen die als Favorit angesehenen Jungs aus der Südstadt sollte experimentiert und gegen die St. Radegrunder Punkte eingefahren werden.
Zum Experiment:
Der Etatmäßige Außenangreifer Fabian „Susi“ Weigel wurde auf die Position des Aufspielers gestellt und Aufspielerin „Stella“ Scheucher auf die Position des Außenangreifers, die sie ja auch schon beim letzten Meisterschaftsspiel in Eggersdorf einmal inne gehabt hatte.
Diese neue Aufstellung, in der sich das Aufspiel Weigels auszeichen konnte, krankte vielmehr an zwei anderen Faktoren. Anfänglich unglücklich getroffene Entscheidungen des Schiedgerichts zerstörten die geforderte Lockerheit des Experiments und führten zu einer ungeordneten Hintermannschaft, und behinderten einen konstanten Spielaufbau. Viele Servicewinner der HIB waren die Folge, die diese Unsicherheit sicher ausnutzte und die VSC-Mädels durch konstante aggressive Angabeserien permanent unter Druck setzte und sich dabei Satz für Satz einen Vorsprung herausspielen konnte, der in einer solchen Liga einfach schwer aufzuholen ist. Kam die Annahme zum Aufspieler, konnte dieser die Bälle auch verteilen und vor Allem über Diagonal und außen Punkte eingefahren werden.
Alles im Allen reichte eine solche Leistungen aber nicht, dem Gegner wirklich gefährlich zu werden. Und so endete das Spiel mit einem 16:25, 16:25, 22:25, 0:3 gegen HIB Liebenau.
Die Vorgabe für das zweite Spiel war ebenso klar, wie das Selbstbewusstsein, die Mannschaft aus St. Radegrund besiegen zu können. Als Aufspieler wurde wieder Stefan Kaltner aufgestellt und somit die „Stammsechs“aufs Spielfeld gebracht. Und von Beginn spielten die Mädels des VSC konstanter, sicherer, abgeklärter. War der erste Satz noch mit 25:23 im Ergebnis relativ knapp, brachen die Gäste mehr und mehr ein und Ergebnisse 25:13 und 25:17 in den Sätzen 2 und 3die Folge.
Somit konnte das Soll erfüllt werden, und die Aufgabe, sich beim am 16.03. stattfindenden Rückspiel gegen die SSV HIB besser zu verkaufen ausgegeben werden, auch wenn die goldene Ananas nicht das Maximalziel ist.
Perfekter Endspurt für das (Mixed-)A Team
Der Ligabetrieb im Mixed Bewerb nähert sich schnell dem Ende - im Gegensatz zu den anderen Ligen gibt es hier ja nur einen Grunddurchgang und dann den Cup. Unser Team in der A-Liga, VSC Zackprack, hat am Mittwoch das letzte Pflichtspiel in Fürstenfeld absolviert.
Aber der Reihe nach. Am vergangenen Sonntag standen eigentlich zwei Spiele an. Das Vormittagsspiel wurde kampflos gewonnen, nachdem unsere Gegner, die ACC Dragons One, keine komplette Mannschaft zusammen bekamen und keine Lust hatten in der kurzen verbleibenden Zeit um einen weiteren (dritten) Aufschub anzufragen, eine Halle zu organiseren, etc. - die Teamverantwortlichen können das wahrscheinlich gut nachvollziehen. Das kam uns sehr gelegen, weil es ein Auswärtsspiel in Fürstenfeld gewesen wäre und wir uns damit ziemlich beeilen hätten müssen rechtzeitig zum Nachmittagsauftritt am USZ in Graz zu kommen.
Dort warteten nämlich dann schon die Baumeister auf uns. Das insgesamt dritte Aufeinandertreffen hatte den gleichen (engen) Verlauf und Ergebnis wie alle vorherigen Begegnungen. Der stärkste Angreifer der Gegner mit seinen geschätzten 2m Körpergröße prüfte immer wieder unsere starke Annahme, die oft genug vor allem durch hervorragenden Verteidigungsleistung von Vani und Niki (noch dazu in der niedrigen 4er Halle) einige wuchtige Schläge entschärften konnte. Nach einem wechselhaften und engen Spiel konnten wir den fünften Satz dann aber doch klar für uns entscheiden. Die Baumeister verbuchten damit ihren ersten Punkt nach drei Niederlagen in der A-Gruppe, in die sie zusammen mit uns letztes Saison erst aufgestiegen waren. Den sympathischen Gegner ist zu wünschen, dass sie den Klassenerhalt noch schaffen, die Spielstärke dafür ist definitiv vorhanden.
Obwohl wir zu diesem Zeitpunkt nur ein Spiel verloren und zwei Punkte bei Siegen abgegeben haben, war die Klassifikation für den Steirischen Mixed-Cup (dh. ein Platz unter den ersten drei) noch nicht gesichert. Rein rechnerisch wäre es im ungünstigsten Fall noch möglich gewesen auf den vierten Platz abzurutschen: mit einem Punkt aus dem letzten Spiel konnten wir damit aus eigener Kraft die Qualifikation schaffen.
Das Spiel gegen die agressiv spielenden und vor allem extrem hart schlagenden Dragons war kein Zuckerschlecken. Die gegnerischen Mittelblocker zeigten kein Erbarmen und Niki und Vani zitterten in der Verteidigung bei jedem Ball. Und zu Recht, denn Ju bekam gleich zwei Bälle an den Kopf! Durch eine starke Block- und vor allem Defenseleistung blieb aber jeder Satz spannend. Die Passe wurden von Ju so gut verteilt, dass Basti, Flo und Werner kaum Probleme ein gutes Angriffsspiel aufziehen konnten. Die mannschaftsinternen Meinungen nach dem Spiel gingen allerdings eher auseinander: Während es für die Mädels eine schlimme Partie war, hatten die Burschen doch recht viel Spaß.
Damit ist die Teilnahme sowohl am Steirischen als auch Bundes-Mixed-Cup gesichert. Hoffentlich können wir dort an die Erfolge anknüpfen und weiterhin die Freude am Spiel im Mittelpunkt stehen lassen.
